The ribbon has unfinished edges on the ends, making me think that Cavanagh picked up this particular treatment for his own brand from C&K.

That "feathered" trailing edge on the bow appears to be something of a Cavanagh signature element. Every Cavanagh I've encountered (a couple of my own, a few others I've handled) have that feature.

It's funny how the topic of the moment around here drives prices on ebay. When Whippet was the buzzword, larger sizes were selling for over $200 on a regular basis. Strats, clear beavers, nutrias and, more recently, bowlers are following suit. Now, that the Whippet isn't being discussed as much as when the Dog Track thread started, a pretty nice Whippet can be had for around $100.

Finally, a Homburg at a more than decent price!

Well, I FINALLY scored a nice Homburg not more than an hour ago, complete with it's original box and at a great price to boot! Boy, my hands were shaking like a leaf from the excitement of it all. Ever since I saw the film "Public Enemy" where "Nails Nathan"(played by Leslie Fenton), is first introduced, I've wanted one. No, make that, had to have one! Good 'ole "Nails". "It means they buy OUR beer or they don't buy any beer!"

"click" the pic to see the auction page. I'm sure glad the seller listed it
incorrectly. He'd have got way more "hits" and likely way more dough
had he done it right. Whew!

Well, it'll be off to the gallows for my Adam "Premier" for this one. :kick: I'll toss up a link when I put it up for auction.

Lefty, Truer words were never written. And to think I almost had that Whippet for $105.00. YWS, YLS. [huh]

There are days when I think the lounge is a bastion of subliminal seduction. Except, it isn't subliminal. It's a case of discussion creating need/want and need/want driving a free market economy, in this case ebay.

Now that's a good one, manny. Those old Mallorys ("For Youthful Smartness," I just love that) are a cut or two above most of what was available off the shelf back then. That one looks like a real purty one, too. Love that color.

Great price, too. You done good.

Hurley Hat

I just got this in the mail...my bay find....it is a very nice hat....looks unworn but it smells like pipe smoke...not bad, better than regular cigarettes, but any suggestions on how to de smell the smoke? And anyone have any clue of the maker? on the band it says "Hurley made by Hirsch the Hatter", "Twenty X beaver" on the other side and the hat liners says "Barbizona"....it might be my new favorite hat until my VS arrives.

I picked these two up a while back, I thought I got a good deal on them.
The first one is a Dobbs 3x Open Road clone and the second is a Penny's Marathon in a great looking grey. These are the photos from the auction.
