Gouged? That's not how I remember it, LOL.
One's ego & being thought of as an expert sometimes just takes over.Sounds like another example of the Hat POlice educating sellers, again.

Lots of those around here, lol....I'm glad I'm not an "expert", but I did stay at a Holiday Inn last night.
Can't take this too serious. Not a life or death situation, I had plenty of those in my 4 years of military service and 25 years in Federal Law Enforcement.
Hats don't even come a close 100. Heck, I have been screwed by so called "highly respected" members in here, but I don't let it get to me, stuff happens and they are not worth my time.
Wonderful! UghI bought a Stetson 100 on a BIN. The sellers price was probably 75-80% of market price with no option to make offer. After I paid what the seller was asking for the purchase the seller cancelled my purchase after someone went in after the sale & talked him into cancelling & taking more money to sell to him.

Hey Panos.. now that it arrived I can update... It’s about two shades lighter than my medium to light tan Marathon. I’d say closer silverbelly for sure... Color code is Sil. Sand. I’m guessing silver belly sand... or silver sand.Nice catch Joe ! I have only one Adam and I like it a lot. Is it tan or silverbelly?

Thanks Hector. It really is. I’m pretty impressed. It has really only one little pink mark on the side of the crown that the seller disclosed. Though you have to look close to see it. And one darker spec on top.Looks in outstanding shape Joe, congratulations.

There are other incidences that have not effected me directly so I won’t address those. Maybe someone else will. That's a crappy deal for sure. That happened to me in Etsy.
My point is, there's no point to get aggravated about it. I get it, and trust me, when it happened to me I was pissed, because it was done by someone I trusted and sought his advice right here. After the fact, I just let it go, is not worth it to me.

On two separate occasions I had bought a hat off of eBay and after paying the seller, the money was returned to the PayPal account. One was an auction and the other was a BIN. On both occasions I received a note from the sellers saying the hats were no longer available. One said 91 year old granddaddy had decided not to sell the hat and the other claimed there was a problem with the listing and it would be re-listed at a later time.
I was upset about on both occasions. I’m not used to sellers suddenly backing out of sales so, I pressed both sellers on it. One stuck with the BS granddaddy story but the other finally said “someone from The Fedora Lounge had contacted them and said they had their hat improperly listed.” They said they decided to pull it and re-list it at a later time. It never showed back up. Not the first time I’ve heard this from a seller.
Maybe it’s just me, but prior to a couple of years ago I had never run into such an issue and what sort of sense does it make for members here to educate sellers? To me, it’s the buyers and sellers who are responsible for knowing their product, not the responsibility of some third party idiot to stroke his ego and correct “that improper listing of a hat.” Who does that?
You want a THIRD???I've had it happen on occasion, but never pressed the issue. I often reckon that a better offer was made, but no idea who. It's happened to my wife with jewelry, as well. However, I don't think it's for the reason we're discussing (in the case of the jewelry).
Now, I have contacted a few to tell them I didn't think they'd ever get the price listed, as an effort to get it down into my range. That guy who's been asking a grand for the Demon Hanover was the last one I tried it with, but he hasn't budged. Well, he did have it at $1,499 before he knocked it down to $995 or whatever it is now.
Now that puppy that ate the hat HJ won a couple of years ago? Now, that's a good reason for cancelling the order, LOL.
