Ebay Hats: Victories, Defeats, Gripes & Items of Interest

Just bought this Manleigh from Justin.
I liked his other People's Clothing Store from Boone, Iowa, so much, I decided to take a chance on this one.

It is a 7 1/8, but I found out that if I force 7 1/8 hats down the plaster cast I made of my head a little bit every day, they fit well in a week, with no damage done.

I guess I have to buy bigger hats just because my head is misshapen. [emoji5]

It was quite the juxtaposition, the two hats listed in this lot. The winner clearly wasn't messing around because the bid was placed almost a week ago. Would be interesting to know how high his ceiling was had there been more action.

I have been tempted for weeks to buy that one for my daughter, whose name is very close to Manleigh. So I'm glad to see you picked it up, Max. It's a great looking vintage hat, and a brand we just don't see much at all.

I tried desperately to snipe basically the same hat in a size 7 a while back and somebody wanted it more than me cuz I tapped out at $375. An amount I might have regretted later, but a black Boss Raw Edge is something of a grail hat to me.

I’ve lost some hats before and can’t remember what they were. This one i will remember right up there with the Eagle Medalist Vita-Felt, the white Vimenet, the 67 xke, the 70 TA and several girls back before latex was required!

This one looked a little worse for wear, but the a 3X is not so common and the sweat stamp is pretty sharp!

Nice win. It does look filthy but you're right, old 3X is not a common find.

I bought this one on suspicion.
It was pointed out to me by Brent, and at first I wasn't interested, because I had never heard of the brand, and because I thought it wasn't a One Hundred, only a 100% beaver. Then I saw the marking on the sweat that says "Bandera One Hundred", and thought it might qualify as a true One Hundred.

I know, it looks modern, and I don't think it was sold for $100 in the fifties or even sixties, but I figured if I didn't buy it, and then found out it did qualify for my 100 collection, I would be kicking myself later, because I doubt I will ever find one again.

It wasn't that expensive, it has a nice color, it is my size, the sweatband looks supple, it is pretty rare, I think Ignacio can clean it, I am starting to like Westerns, and it might qualify for my 100 collection, so I got it before I lost it.
