ebay hack stealing images from Thedi Leathers

How do we stop this:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/222450848543

I reported the seller thru the eBay report an item tab but I wonder how seriously they look at these things. I don't know if Thedi is still present here but hopefully if he is he'll see this and take action. I saw this same set of images on Etsy as well. They didn't even crop out the "T"!! Blatant rip-off!!!

Well I confronted them with a message and the listing is now dead.

Little different look with the actual product photos.

He didn't take it seriously. These people/institutions are weeds and will be back. The beat goes on...good job though.
Thedi seems particularly vulnerable. Needs to watermark his pics. There's a million of these flimsy ass jackets been hocked off with Thedi photos.

Actually saw some trader selling jackets on ebay with my old BK Waldo Pepper jacket as an example of "their" supposed product. Had firm words with them but to no avail! They don't seem to care too much.

If you look at the section concerning posting photos of an item there is an option to use images from the web. I have seen auctions where someone has used photos of a jacket that I still own.( images from this forum appear in Google searches) These companies though are blatantly using images of very high quality desirable jackets to sell their junk.

There's a scumbag eBay seller who stole one of my photos of my item, and is using it to sell their own item.

I reported it to eBay, and they have done absolutely nothing. The image is still up, the listing is still up. I've been in touch with their customer service multiple times, and they only tell me that they sympathize and understand, but they don't sympathize or understand.

I'd like to pursue a copyright infringement case against them, since the damages for copyright infringement of a single work are thousands of dollars...

I have reported sellers that would use images of that same jacket more than a few times and each time the listing was taken down, either by the 'bay or the seller. But I doubt that my report had any effect on the outcome, they must've gotten complaints from several people, Thedi included but... I guess it does get taken down. Though, that's as far as it goes 'cause that poor jacket gets relisted again and again. Funny how it's always the same one? The pirates must be so dumb they're stealing this photo from each other without ever knowing who made the jacket.

Yeah, makes me sick. I saw what happened in the music industry while working there when Napster destroyed the business model. Some might think "what's the big deal?" but it is. Esp for a guy trying to make a go in a smaller business. Good job on narcing. I do too when I have time...

Yeah but with Napster it was inevitable. Nobody was ready for the change but ultimately, they only did what Youtube is doing now, legally.

This particular Thedi is the model of choice it would seem...I guess the bastards have good taste at least. I've seen a few of his jackets used like this tho. I wonder why his designs are the most common target? I suppose he's a little bit more obscure??

I was thinking about that as well. Thedi is somewhat lesser known among the elite so maybe that could have something to do with it? Plus the fact they don't even have a proper website but just a blog... And Thedi jackets are very modern looking right now. Mall jackets today are exactly what Thedi has been making for a while - simple CR's with padded shoulders and elbows.

I've spoekn to various brands about this sort of thing over the years, including Aero and the Crazy Pig Jewellers. None of them seemed to have much confidence in eBay's handling of the matter. To be fair, eBay can oftne only deal with Hydra heads, but I do think they ared far too slow to ban repeat offenders on this score - though they can be vicious on other things, like "nonpaying bidders" (three strieks and you're out) or legitimate sellers of some things. I knew a guy whose wife was temporarily banned for nine months. She was a collector of one of the big catwalk nam,s and would buy entire collections. She sold one of them off at one point to support her hobby; eBay summarily banned her and would brook no appeal, on the basis that in their view noone could possibly own that much of one single label....

Well done, Ton. This dude has a zero rating. I usually won't do business with anyone with a lower rating then the normal body temperature; regardless of what seems like a smoking deal. :D :D :D

I often sweep eBay for counterfeit club swag or swag being sold off by disgruntled former members. For the former members, I'll usually foot the bill and buy the swag myself to keep it out of the hands of non-members as it's usually only a patch, tshirt or mechanic shirt. But if it's got our logo on it, I try to snatch it up. Otherwise I put out a word to the rest of the membership to see if anyone else wants to take it. If it's a counterfeit piece, such as a challenge coin or some such, I'll message them and report it to eBay. eBay has usually been pretty good about shutting them down. But like Nick said, these people/institutions are weeds and will be back, just gotta stay on top of it.
