Visited the pop-up yesterday and came home with this D-1. I will post some fit pics soon. It feels so much easier to wear than a B-3, which I have had two of in 44 and 46 and couldn’t get on with.
I was a little torn between this and a B-6 but prefer the look of this and the price.

Very nice @Gav .. Are there bargains to be had in the pop-up or is it just a matter of getting to compare and try things on prior to purchase?

eastman and bargain are words not often uttered together. but being able to compare and try on many different jackets is a real treat. Gary and the guys are awesome too.

I haven't been this year yet, but last year was basically just a regular store, no sales, no bargains, just full price Eastman goodness...

.. Ha ha..

Ive been following along on instagram and if possible I would love to stop in..

Any idea what Eastman do with their seconds.. I cant imagine every jacket assembled passes final Quality Control.. It would be a terrible waste to discard an "almost" perfect jacket

That looks great. I’ve never seen that color hide from Eastman. What is it (maybe a trick of lighting). Totally jealous. Wish they’d do one by me. At any rate my wallet is safer for it.

Mr. Lever, since you are in the thread, perhaps you can answer a question for me (not to hijack, but it is eastman shearling related). Eastman states that it makes jackets with the correct 1/4” fleece. This equates to roughly 6mm. Many other makers offer their shearling at 12mm and go to 18mm. Am I understanding correctly that Eastman’s is between 1/2-1/3 as thick? If so, can you comment on how that effects warmth?

I understand that 6mm is correct and would conform to that on originals I have owned. A very early ELC I recently sold had 12 mm fleece, great jacket but incorrect fleece depth. I have a Whitefeather D1 with 6 mm fleece,it is very light and flexible and plenty warm enough for all but the coldest weather here in England. It wears like an A1.
The curly fleece in the photo looks really good imo. I know the pattern and details will be spot on, that's a given with ELC.

ELC D-1 is my favourite ever shearling, I've coveted a 50 Cal B-3 for some time (tried one on..perfect) could I wear it over here (UK)? Probably not (very much)! Sold my BOB ELC shearling because it didn't get out very much...D-1 meets my needs..buffered by an RAF sweater if the 'Beast from the East' ever strikes again :)

I have an Aero. Guessing the shearling is 12. Still need to layer HEAVY in Chicago.
