Find this on ebay. I had to buy it, the look was just amazing. During discussions with the seller I learned that he was blind this explained the wear and damage on a two year old jacket. The arms are very wrinkled with loads of heavy wear and scuffs, the back is also quite scuffed. There are spots of white paint here and there. I think the owner had lived in it as it was quite dirty.
I have very gently hand washed it cold using pure glycerine soap, then air dried for 3 days.

Fantastic jacket John!!!!

Love my Cape Eastman A-1..took me years to appreciate them and stump up for one (first encountered one about a decade ago at ELC).

About 3 years ago I went on a visit to Ivybridge to order a Goatskin
A-2, whilst there Rob showed me an A-1 again and I came away without ordering the A-2..a couple of weeks later the postman dropped an A-1 off.

It's my summer go to when it's really warm..love the semi-military vibe & fit..don't baby mine (a few marks and stains now) but wouldn't change the car oil or wash the scooter in it :) Though tougher than a lot of people think!

Fabulous jacket, John. The .50 Cal. A-1, as posted by me previously, is the most amazing jacket out of the box ELC offers, with nothing artificial at all about the TimeWear process.

Any paint spots will easily and harmlessly come off by applying Stripe Ease or other semi-gel stain and paint removers on the spots with a soft cloth and rubbing until they are gone, then quickly buffing with a dry, soft cloth; this quick process actually adds to the patina.

I believe I know the seller of the jacket very, very well (quite an amazing guy and first-rate human being) and I'm surprised he moved this on, but who knows his reason.

Good luck!

I didn't mind the paint spots they added more character, they did come off when I hand washed it. The buttons had all been re sewn to make the fit tighter so the pocket spacing looked off. I have now moved the butons to their original position. There are some needle holes but these are covered when the jacket is buttoned up.
I keep it by the front door and wear it every time I go out.
