This looks to be an early Royal Stetson in a dark charcoal/graphite color. The liner is either missing or there never was one - though there are bits of old oxydized celluloid floating around inside. No size tag, nor reorder tag, nor any tag at all to be found. Crown is 5.5 opened, brim is 2" even. It's 22" even around - a 7.
It is a nifty hat. Reverse taper and the whole bit. One weakened spot at the front of the dent. Far from a hole, but still. It creases there stubbornly. A bit dusty. A bit faded.
Sweat is too old for later stingies. I'm thinking 1930's. Leather in nice shape. A beautiful hat. I love this hat - the ribbon especially. Its tall crown is very Philo Vance. But alas it is too small for me.
PM for further info and questions, asking $40 and shipping.
