Well, i've had this one for ages, hoping someday that i'd like how the jacket looked on me. It never will look how i want it to. So on the block it goes.
A really high quality suit. Hart, Schaffner and Marx were certainly one of the better, if not the best, maker in the USA in this era. The style and union label put it to the early 1940s. A wonderful black and white GlenUrquhart check with multiple blue overcheck/overstripe. Not really a prince of Wales check, but approaching it.
Meaurements
JACKET
Chest 20"
Waist 18.5"
Shoulders 17.5"
Length 30.25" (from bottom of collar to hem in the back)
Arm 24.25" (from the shoulder seam)
TROUSERS
Waist 15"
Outseam 40.75"
Inseam 29" + 1.5" hem - so could get another 1" and maintain the cuffs.
Cuff 9.5" across, 1.625" deep
here's the jacket shot. you can see the button stance and general style. It's simply too big for me through the shoulders and chest. The jacket - strangely for this vintage - has two inside breast pockets and is skeleton lined with taped seams.
The trousers have dropped belt loops, including the much talked about extra belt loop just to the right of the waist button. Two pleats, side-seam-facing. The standard watch pocket is also present. Two rear pockets, one of which fastens.
And the fabric: Ain't it purty? The buttons are nice too.
This one is front HSM's hand tailored line. A very high end suit for this era.
PM if you're interested.
