Dyeing faded area on corduroy?

Hello gents,

I've got a vintage zipped jacket made from bottle-green corduroy (therefore certainly pure cotton).
Problem is that the left shoulder area has faded to a greyish hue.

What to do? If I dye the complete jacket with green color, will the difference not be still noticeable?
Has someone tried a "partial" dyeing, by holding the affected area into a bucket of hot color+water?

The plaid cotton lining has been removed for repair, I'll also take out the shoulder pads and the metal zippers won't be affected by dye.

Before I try something I'd appreciate some suggestions or input.

Thanks!

"Spot" dyeing will likely make the dyed area a deeper colour than the rest of the jacket. I would recommend dyeing the whole garment. If you do it properly with a good quality dye (slightly darker than the current colour) the jacket should come out uniform in colour.

I've tried dyeing a cotton shirt to cover up fading and the difference remained noticeable. I imagine dyeing one area would be difficult to colour match. But what about dyeing the faded spot to something near what you want then re-dyeing the whole thing slightly darker. Maybe that will minimise the difference?

Thanks guys. As it is a 1930-40's jacket, the threads are cotton as well...

Now that I've got the jacket inspected more closely, the fading is not as bad as thought. But at the same time more widespread.
So I will dye it entirely in a darker green.
