does anyone have this book ?

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0060191449/102-6530877-0203357?v=glance&n=283155

i've just bought it but haven't had a chance to read it yet. it's looks like a very well considered 'how to dress well' with a timeless/classic feel type book. however the main reason i bought it is because it's a veritable treasure trove of rare 20s-50s (but mainly 30s) photographs. almost every well dressed man from the 30s is featured... fred astaire, the duke of windsor, humphrey bogart, gary cooper, clarke gable, henry fonda.....

expect scans soon.

Yes!

Excellent book! Great refernces. Definitely check out the sections on dressing in the "Golden Era". Check out the pictures of young Cary Grant, Clark Gable and Tyrone Power.
You'll also be amazed at some of the pictures of Jaqueline Kennedy's Dad- Jack Bouvier.
The strongest impression it made on me was how casual and relaxed a lot of the best dressed men appeared- casually dressed, but elegant- much different from the scruffy, grungy look many Hollywood "Stars" sport today.

Have both his books (Dressing the Man, and Clothes and the Man). We have some threads in the Lounge discussing this book about a year or so ago, maybe longer. Serarch for the posts..I think there were some great comments back then.

For golden era picture gallery i'd also recommend Farid Chenoune's A History of men's Fashion. Interesting to read about it from the French perspective. Many pics of the standard hollywood types, but also many of the french stars of the day - and, most importantly, many pics of ordinary french folk wearing the clothes we love ...

Quite an expensive book these days, though.

Flusser Book Is Nice

Yes, this book is heavy on Golden Era Hollywood mens styles ;) . Would really like to see a book devoted to average American males dressing styles of the 1940's.

SC Still Waiting? [huh]
