Dressing one's age?

I have a question and I apologize if something similar has been asked. I didn't know how to go about even searching.[huh]

Anyway I am trying to get a collection of 1940's patterns and they are mostly too small or too difficult. I found a vintage pattern I really like and it's in my size but it's a Pinafore dress. Is 33 too old to wear a pinafore dress? Is there anyway someone my age could pull this look off?
