Dress Sizes

I am looking to purchase a pencil skirt but I am unsure of how vintage sizes run. Any pro shoppers out there that can give me pointers? I am a 10 in bottoms and 5'11. How long should the skirt be?

You know, when I wanted to figure out the optimal skirt length for me I just held up a ruler to my legs LOL. Not very scientific, but if I see a 20" skirt, I can hold the ruler to me and see where it will fall in front. Also, measure your favorite skirt for length.
