Dear Loungers.

The Norwegian winter is a somewhat brutal affair.
And the dreaded mixture of salt and snow, does not only mean death for a nice pair of shoes, but also for Vintage Cars...
Our purse is not exactly overflowing with cash, but we did manage to purchase a -62 Volvo Duett, which we love.
Interesting fact; -62 was the first year after WWII, where average Norwegian citizens was allowed to purchase the vehicle of their choice, without applying for a permit.

So; today our dear "Caruso" (as we have named the car) went into winter-storage.
We are renting a space in a storage which specializes in Vintage Cars, and I snapped a couple of pics today.
Thought I'd share them...

Firstly, our Caruso, next to a Rover.

Then a beauty; Vintage Duesenberger, lovingly cared for.
Guy says there are 8-10 of them in the world, but that could of course be bull****. ;-)

Then; the car of my dreams, a Pierce Arrow...
Guy is starting the restoration this winter.
Man it's a beauty...

Spotted what appears to be a '94 Jaguar XJS convertible with an India 6 engine. I had a '94 XJS for three years
until a collision with the Internal Revenue Service forced divorce. Great ride.

I work with a guy that said the 80's Jags had brake and electrical issues.
He said he was constantly tinkering with it to keep the car safe.
Now I know why a friend of mine's dad put a Chevy 305 in their 75 XJ6.
I love that Cord. Very nice.
Unfortunately my 29 Essex sits in storage due to lack of time and funds.
Maybe next spring. [huh]

That's a Cord 8-10 (the 8-10 being the model not the amount made). As for the comic character known for riding about in one...The Shadow knows who...

Whats the difference between an 810 and an 812? I thought one was supercharged and the other not, though this one has the pipes, others dont.
No not the 'Shadow', well not in British comics anyway. Answer in a day or two.

That's correct. There's no difference between an 810 and an 812 except the supercharger. And the pipes aren't really a judge of if it's one or the other as a lot of them had them added as an accent piece.

The Shadow was driven around in a Cord taxi in the movie, which is why I guessed that. Now if I recall correctly, the very first Batmobile was based on a Cord, but with a Lincoln style nose on it....and was red. Beyond that I'm at a loss.

Named after the famous traveller, Robinson Caruso?

A real anorak question here! Does anyone know which comic book character drove a Cord sedan? Only clue is it was a British comic from the 1960s-70s.[huh]Just for fun eh:)
I remembered this from when I used to read POW comic in the 1960s(British), the answer is 'The Cloak'. His car was a Cord Sedan known as the Cloakmobile and the Character was a kind of detective who got into all sorts of scrapes.
Unfortunately 'The Cloak' is not a well remembered character such as Biffo or Desperate Dan and I am unable to find much about him so sorry no pictures. So, if anyone collects British comics and has some Pow issues from 1967-68, I am sure a pic of the Cloakmobile would be of interest.
Cheers, John

How about the 1967 Allegany-Ludlum Lincoln four-door convertible?

I can't do convertibles anymore, especially a Lincoln.
My fear is I'd drive it out to CA, and have Powers car jack me for it.
Or Blackjack me, one of the two. :D
I did pass up the chance to buy that model back in the early 90's.
Baby blue with black interior.
Didn't have anywhere to keep it, and couldn't justify buying it after starting on the Essex AND an Elcamino SS.
