Double RL 1930s Half Belt - China Limited Edition

I'd like to show my new RRL leather jacket that I just picked up in Shanghai. It's a new limited edition colour of their 1930s halfbelt.

I know people often say RRL is not as good as it was, and the price is too high.

Regardless, after owning jackets from Aero, Tenjin, Real McCoy's, The Flat Head and more, I finally wanted to try an RRL Leather jacket.

I've been turned off by them in the past due to how thin the leather is, and due to knowing what else I can get for the money. But I've always been strangely attracted to the designs and the allure of the brand. On top of that, despite most people disliking limited editions, I myself very much enjoy them.

I picked this jacket on Taobao, but then decided to go to the RRL store in Shanghai Kerry Centre. There they had 3 in a size L. I compared all 3, and unsurprisingly, none of them were perfect, all 3 had wildly different leather ageing finishes (apparently due to the hand finishing process). I also found small defects in stitching and leather cutting in more difficult to join areas. In the end I picked the one I liked best.

This cowhide is thin, it comes from New Zealand, I think it does look very pretty though. Generally speaking the stitching is reasonable, quite decent, the hardware looks very nice, and I really love the touch and feel of the cotton lining, but it's delicate. This to me, is a very comfortable delicate luxury fashion take on a vintage jacket.

You can see the use of some French Seams which I appreciate. I'm not sure what thread they are using, but it appears to be cotton poly core.

The tags it came with explain that althouth it has an aged finished, it's done in a way that will allow the leather to continue aging further. The fit is relaxed, and very comfortable. Sometimes I get tired of fighting with my other tighter fitting thick jackets.

I'm posting this partly because I want to show and talk about it, as I'm very happy to have it, but also because in searching, I did not find many posts about these jackets, so I hope this will contribute to the archive.
