Today we decided to do some thrift store browsing. As usual I griped and complain the whole way there. I was not planning on going in because it did not feel like one of those lucky days to me. Boy was I wrong! I found a gold mine of stuff in my size.
First is this double breasted herringbone sports jacket. It probably started life as a two piece but the pants were no where to be seen. I looked!

The jacket is in great condition and fits perfectly. I prefer two buttons to close on a d.b. style but thought it looked o.k. with one.
Black and navy pants go with this but how about a lighter color? Can I pair khaki pants with it?
I won't say the price, it was obscenely low! :)

Why not? Also consider taupe ("pink"), dark olive, and of course charcoal grey.

You can "bridge the gap" between the brownish shades and the black/white coat with some thoughtful tie or shirt picks.

It is 50 degrees in NYC this a.m. and this is a fine jacket for the weather.
That's the type of jacket that you can add a hat, scarf, and gloves for a quick jaunt to the corner store, even into the 30's.

I've got a beautiful DB HB jacket that was probably part of a suit in the 40s. It's a fine brown/white weave, somewhere between cheviot and light tweed, with overthreads of silver and brilliant royal blue. Pix to follow.

I think so too. I am wearing the jacket with dark pants and a gray hat. It works!

Please do post those pictures.
I always enjoy seeing the pictures and get inspiration from the locals.
