Donald Brooks studied at Parsons School of Design and designed juniors clothing in the 50s for a company called Darbury. In the late 50s he moved to Townley and opened his own company in 1965. He had 5 Oscar nominations for design from 63 to 70. In 1970 he won his 3rd Coty award. In 1973 he disbanded his business but continued several licensing agreements.
He was known for bright colors and his hippie looks with peasant blouses and ruffled skirts.
