Good tongue-twister there!

As for the designer, here's what I found:

AVERY LUCAS (men's clothing collection for spring 1992)

Daily News Record; 12/5/1991

"For Avery Lucas, the attention to detail in his clothing collection for St. Laurie is unmatched. 'I'm still falling in love with what I do,' he says -- and it shows. 'For me, it's not just clothing." His aim is to 'uplift a man's morale.'

The collection of vintage '30s-inspired silhouettes introduced last season has evolved, yet remains true to its original vision. Among the outstanding renditions for spring are a new two-button single-breasted suit model with peak lapels rendered in an unusually heavyweight linen that resists wrinkles, a black and white double-breasted cotton gingham-check sport coat with three open patch pockets, a mustard three-button silk jacket with flat patch pockets reminiscent of hunting apparel and a gray and white wool crepe glen plaid suit with a blue windowpane. A cotton voile shirt cut on the horizontal with french cuffs and a spread collar is a practical and innovative idea for looking freshly pressed in the heat of summer."

Notice that the article above is from December, 1991. Avery Lucas was doing single-breasted peak lapels back then!

I saw that suit... thought it a pretty good copy of an early 30's job! The same sellers also have some good vintage suits up on the block! Wish they were my size!!!

Yeah, they had some nice ones on there. They weren't too small...just too pricey.
Plus, I am putting my eggs in another basket.

For a time AL designed for St.Laurie, an old line New York maker. I met him around ten years ago when he ran the custom department at Dunhill. He's no longer at Dunhill and I haven't heard his name lately. I didn't even think St. Laurie was still in business
