Christopher Lee actually died Sunday morning (June 7th). Although Internet rumors were apparently circulated, the official announcement of his passing was delayed until family members were informed. But, yeah, it's unusual to hear of so many celebrity deaths on the same day.

Thinking back, I realized I've seen comparatively few of the movies Sir Lee starred or was featured in, but I can't recall ever thinking his performances were anything but perfect even if the movie wasn't particularly good.

Christopher Lee could have had a 3 minute cameo in a movie (in fact, I've seen this happen), and he would still be the best actor on the screen.

Only because it hasn't been mentioned, Vincent Bugliosi died of cancer at the age of 80 on June 6th. Bugliosi was perhaps best known for prosecuting Charles Manson and other defendants for the Tate/LaBianca murders of August 9th and 10th, 1969, and being the co-author (with writer Curtis Gentry) of the 1974 book Helter Skelter which detailed the investigation, arrest, and prosecution of those accused of the murders.

It's rare that anything these days gives me chills, but if anything can, it's TCM. Saw this last night.

A sad loss indeed, but he had a good innings and a great career. A young Jacob Marley, John Steed, and of course, Sir Denis Eton-Hogg, head of Polymer Music, in This Is Spinal Tap!
