This jacket is based on a vintage design @tmitchell59 posted a while ago, it looked striking. So I got in touch asking if he was ok with the idea of reproducing it. Thankfully he directed me to Dave Sheeley who did a tremendous job as you will see in the pics shortly - or just jump directly and decide if you want to read this boring blurb later, much better
I was originally thinking of going for a more unique colour initially, but Dave recommended his brown goat, glad he did. The colour is really interesting with variation in the hide, as well as changing under different lighting conditions. This goat skin is substantial and had a firmness to it that I really enjoy. It holds the shape well enough while still having good drape. It strikes a nice balance overall and suits this jacket.
The workmanship is simply excellent, I couldn't find any flaw, the stitching is very neat. It is certainly one of the best jackets I have handled. It is really a jacket you can spend your time looking at as is it intricate and very well made.
There are no fit pics as the jacket is too big on me. I lost a lot of weight recently, and that messed things up regarding the sizing. Luckily Dave is very accomodating and will sort me out. He is really great to work with and very passionate. He will go all the way for details no matter how small to get it just right. And he is great to talk to as well! So in short, I am so impressed by the work of this jacket that I had to post about it and have already another jacket on order, another very interesting model as well
So here goes, these pictures were taken indoors
A close up to show the stitching details
This is just perfect
And some outdoors pics to show off the colour of the hide!
