Dating suits by Cleaning tags

I've been meaning to ask this for some time and I just remembered again. Does anyone know what year they started sewing the international cleaning symbol tags into clothes? I know European manufacturers began before American, but I'm unsure of the year. None of my 60s suits has the tag, but I have come across suits that looked 60s yet had the tag. It would be a useful bit of information.

What is the international cleaning tag? Is it the dry clean only one? If not, do you have a picture?

Now I can't find one. Too much vintage! But yeah, it's the one that has all the symbols on it. A wash tub, a triangle, etc. I had thought they made it a law at some point but perhaps that was only in some European countries.
