The English title of this movie is Perfume:The Story of A Murderer, and apparently it's been out in Europe for some time, but is just coming to America as far as I know. By description, I personally am highly intrigued, though I had not heard of it before, nor even read the book on which it is based. It looks very artistic and haunting though, and I appreciate thrillers that don't rely on masses of blood and cheap scares to frighten the audience. It's also a period film, which is always a bonus, in my opinion.
Does anyone have any more details on this movie? Or better yet, if anyone has seen it, I'd love to hear your experience. I'm seriously considering seeing it this weekend, and it is a rare film nowadays that makes me want to go to the theatre to view it.
Description:
Jean-Baptiste Grenouille, born in the stench of eighteenth century Paris, develops a superior olfactory sense, which he uses to create the world's finest perfumes. His work, however, takes a dark turn as he tries to preserve scents in the search for the ultimate perfume.
