One of the truly iconic names of the WW II era, Dame Vera Lynn, turns 96 today. She, of course, was most famous for what was almost the British National Anthem during the battle of Britain, "We'll Meet Again". Can't hear that song without getting a little misty. But she sang many other songs, and her last public appearance where she sang was, I believe, in the 90s. God bless youm Dame Vera Lynn!

Happy Birthday Dame Vera! Whenever I hear We'll Meet Again I always think of it in the context of the time and what it meant to those listening to it 70 odd years ago. One of the great songs of the era.
