Custom made suit or an off-the-rack suit?

As KILO NOVEMBER, I'd prefer Savile Row bespoke suits of the best quality and comfort, but I'm not so wealthy.
I wear almost vintage suits, so they can be tailor made or off-the-rack; indeed the quality of many off-the-rack suits of the past is really over our common standard, especially in facts of comfort and durability: suits were made to be worn, not to show itself arriving at the office and smiling to the receptionist, then going upstairs and taking off the jacket for the rest of the day.
I think we have a wrong concept of tailor-made clothing, as a luxury item. This and a consumistic way of perceiving fashion ("I want NOW") have brought prices of tailoring really on high. And quality, style, personality really at floor.
