Friends, I've been watching AMC & TCM classic movies since high school and that's a lot of movies; still tape a couple new ones a week but half don't pass the vicious "15-minute test".
Can't say I remember the last time I gave one a 10 out of 10 points on my "dvd want list ranking"
It happened tonight - on Turner Classic Movies - and it's coming on again
Feb 2nd, 2:30 AM - 4:30 AM (Eastern): "The Killers" (1946) w/ Ava Gardner
Don't know how I'd not heard of it before. Maybe always passed it up since it sounds so generic. Its from an Ernest Hemingway book, and says Robert Osborne, at a time in the 40s when critics and audiences treated crime dramas more as a dime-a-dozen type pulp movies, this one got rave reviews from both. Hemingway himself said, this was his favorite movie ever made from any of his books.
If you like any crime / noir movies, don't miss it. Regards
