Look at those zipped buttonholes. Who would of thunk it?
This is what I love about 20s-40s vintage, when things get a bit weird, it's just the right amount of quirky without being ridiculous. Somewhere around the 1970s, this balance was lost!

Those buttonholes make sense to me; my fear is that having buttons on a stiff and heavy garment will result in the buttons being torn off by having to force them through stiff leather. It could be an unfounded fear.
