Cowboy print shirt - great 50s vibe!

Now available in River Island, of all places. I've just been in and bought a short sleeve one. At £25 it' quite reasonable and the cut is untailored - noce and vintage accurate. Rather than pearl snaps, the short sleeve one has pretty decent vintage workwear-style "eyeball" buttons.

These are brilliant - just perfect 50s novelty print fabric!! 100% cotton …

No problem. They had some interestign ones on the sale rack for £8 too. I got a great "West African" print short sleeve shirt. I've finally found a sourrce for these fabrics in Stoke Newington, so I should soon be having some shirts made with giant pineapple prints and the like. Think this kinda stuff, mostly used for women's dresses. The tube coming through Finsbury Park, Seven Sisters and Tottenham Hale on a Sunday lunchtime after church services end is an amazing sea of these fabrics. All different, and all very very wild. of course, one is resolutely NOT staring at the legs …

Thanks for the link. I didn't knew the shop. Some cool work shirts there. I don't think I would pull off the novelty prints. Prices are really cheap so I wonder if there is any improvement to shopping at h&m?

Not really. Made in Turkey rather than made in China, though Turkey's not great, of course.

The only good reason to shop n any of those stores is the one rare occasion that they have anything interesting. I would guess this season will be the last for a long time. The last time I saw River Island have anything even close to interesting was probably about 15 years ago when they did an interesting duffel coat.

Yes, certainly better than China - conditions for workers are generally not quite Medieval in Turkey (that desperation to join the EU changed a lot of business practices) whereas they are often pre-Medieval in China, from what I saw. Socialists, my arse!

China is, arguably, the most capitalist nation on earth. ;)

I quite fancy the sounds of the short sleeve in the cowboy one, would make a nice variation from the eloha and bowling style shirts for jive nights.

We are lucky that vintage workwear is trendy right now. :)
In fact I'm generally satisfied with the look of the highstreet stuff in the last couple of years, at least as far as shirts and sweaters are concerned.

Quite a few nice cinch back trousers too, but slim fit and low waisted, which is not a look I subscribe to. I can understand someone wanting his trousers to be fitted, but I consider trousers that reveal your underwear to be badly designed. ;)
