Cordovan Patina Question

Hello!

I recently got a new 30's Half-belt from Thurston Bros. in cordovan vicenza. It was posts on here that pointed me toward reaching out to Carrie, (the leather whisperer,) at Thruston Bros. and getting what I feel is a great jacket, and exactly what I was looking for.

So, my question is this: As the jacket wears over the years, what kind of patina can I expect from the cordovan vicenza? It seems that in all pics I find of jackets in cordovan, the jackets seem relatively new...

congrats on your new Aero jacket and thanks for sharing here in the lounge. I haven't seen a member with a cordovan Vicenza jacket before so you might just be it and that would be interesting to see after a while. what's the core color of the underside of the pull?

I'm hoping I'm understanding your question correctly. The underside of the pull appears to be a medium brown, maybe with a slight reddish hue...

Welcome to the Lounge G-Two and congratulations on a great looking jacket there!
As Jin said, we have not seen very many Cordovan Vicenza jackets here and none that have been worn in yet. Like most leathers though, I’m sure it will only get better with age and wear.

yes sir that's it. just curious to see what the core color of a cordovan Vicenza is. I'm guessing once the top coat of the leather breaks down on high contact points then you'll slowly but surely see that peaking through so it will show nice wear/patina after years of regular use. pls do update the thread after a while so we can see the progress. wear it well good sir.

Great jacket.
How versatile is the cordovan color?
Do you think it is subtle enough to "replace" a brown every day jacket?

Cordovan is much more eye-catching than a brown jacket. If you like that, then it can definitely be an everyday jacket ;)

I don't know that I would call is 'subtle' but I do think it's extremely versatile, and bridges a lot of styles and colors where you might not want to wear brown. That being said, as Turnip noted above, the perceived color is highly dependent on the lighting conditions. But that's one thing I really like about it, though, the variability of how it looks. It's definitely an every day jacket for me, and I get a lot of compliments on the color.
