Like alot of members here, I grew up during the Cold War years. The Berlin Wall came down about a month after I ended my 4 year enlistment in the Marines. Although the possibility of nuclear destruction is still with us, it just seemed a lot more probable when the Soviet Union was still around. Growing up with this seemingly real threat, I developed what some might describe(if I told them about it) as a morbid fascination with the nuclear weapon era and all things involved with it. We're living a perpetual Cold War, with hot "conflicts" every decade since WWII. As far as I'm concerned, we were never in the path of nuclear war. But who's counting?
