I just scored an old flying suit, age unknown, for $2. It needs a bit of patching but will be fine for long nights driving the truck in winter, but what are the two belts inside for?
Might be a primitive G-suit, or for electrical-heating elements. Can you post pics?
I'm sure our aviator-reenactors are better suited than I to deal with this, as my specialty is more the "metal" than the "meat" flying it, but those two readily sprung to mind...
Looking at location I'd assume that they'd go around your torso to keep the suit snugly against you so as to prevent snaggging in the events of entering and exiting the cockpit.
