Cocktail Shakers

I haven't had much luck with cocktail shakers. Once it leaks and makes a sticky mess all over the bar (and user), my wife loses patience and tosses it in the trash. I then buy another and we get the same results. So, I'm in the market, once again, for a cocktail shaker. Any suggestions? I know the auction sites are littered with them, but I'm hoping someone can rave about one they bought at Pottery Barn, Restoration, etc.

Please help. I'm parched.

It's not really vintage or amazing looking, but I *highly* recommend getting a Boston style shaker - and make sure it has rubber around the rim of the glass cup. I have one of these that has gotten lots of use, and I have never had the problems you describe.

EDIT: I also find this style of shaker better for another reason - you can make your cocktail colder! Fill the metal part of the shaker with ice and water, and let it sit as you're measuring your spirits into the glass cup. Then drain the water, keep the ice and shake. That extra chill from letting the metal cup get super duper cold makes a world of difference in my opinion.

I'm very happy with this Boston shaker by Rösle. The measuring scale on the glass comes in handy.

Agreed. The Boston shaker is the way to go.
