Anyone own or have seen this jacket in person am interested in it's quality of workmanship. I may pull the trigger...it looks fantastic. The on sale price-point is very tempting.

I have owned an Eastman and Avirex B-3 in the past and there's something about this particular B-3 jacket that keeps calling. I need one while thier on sale before Winter gets here....(Go figure.....it was 88 degrees here in Pittsburgh today!)

Thanks,

Tom

Tom, I used to own one of these, but sold it in time of hardship. It was a very good repro of a 'redskin ' B-3 with fabulous leather and fleece colour, only let down by the stamping of the buckles with Avirex. I sold it to non other than John Chapman of GW who was equally impressed. He thought the hides came from the same tannery that Lost Worlds used to make a similar jacket.
If that isn't the best recommendation than I can't think of another !
Here's my jacket -

Great pics!

John,

Thanks for the reply. It is just what I'm looking for. www.flyingtigerssurplus.com has it for U.S. $829.99 with free shipping. I notice that they DO NOT ship over seas. U.S. Wings has it on sale for $881.00 + shipping which puts it over $900.00. Considering the list is $1,250.00, which most online retailers sell it at, this isn't too shabby. Eastman and Lost Worlds jackets are close to the $1,400.00 mark with no discounts available. I'll post some pics of the jacket after I receive it.

Thanks again John,

regards,

Tom

Nice looking jacket! If only I didn't already have an order with John Chapman for a new A-2, and if only I didn't live in south Florida where a B-3 is never needed. Oh well, maybe some day I'll move back up north and need a jacket like this.

I made an enquiry as to shipping costs to the UK. here's the reply -

John,

Shipping would be $246.68. This is 7% of the price of the jacket times 4
.

I would be very surprised if they ever sell anything to the UK ! How can Lost Worlds or HPA send over a jacket for $80 ???

John, I presume that they are probably quoting you for some form of super-dooper enhanced postage service - one of these things where they guarantee to have it with you in the UK within 48 hours, borne to you by hand on the back of an Amazonian slave girl or something.... I've looked into buying other items of clothing from various US companies in the past, and some of them would only use the most expensive shipping methods available, thereby making it uneconomical. (Dogpile wanted so much for shipping that it would have been as cheap to buy the clothes in the UK to begin with - and you know how much more we pay for basics over here!). Probability is that LW etc are prepared to use a cheaper shipping method.

That's not bad at all for an overseas shipment. I did order mine over the w.end and called to check order status yesterday. They drop-ship directly from Cockpit........I wear a 44R and this size happend to be in stock so it's shipping in a day or 2. Cockpit's own web site lists this jacket at $1,250.00!....The $829 is looking like a true bargain.

After a complaint they reduced it to $85 !

That sounds more like it! Still a lot of money, but by the time you bring into account insurance and the weight of one of those jackets, it's fairly reasonable.
