So there I am in one of my regular welfare shops after a few weeks away; they've changed the whole layout, and the hatrack is gone. As I look around I spy a basket with some very scruffy lids in it, but as I approach, a barefoot woman cuts me off and grabs this very dusty and scruffy Akubra before I can get to it, and pulls it down on her unkempt tresses, too late I curse, as her and her equally disshevelled mother bash it and reef it around trying it on in various ways. I lurk behind the coat rack, swearing under my breath, fully prepared to mug them in the carpark if the undeserving villains buy the thing. I must have looked like a stalker, but hey, this a hat we're talkin about. Then joy of joys, they put it back deciding it's too dirty. I swoop like a raptor, take it to the counter.....$3 thanks, for a vintage Akubra Grazier made especially for RM Williams.
Oh calloo callay, a bit of a going over with an airgun, a bit of soap in a warm shower and reblock.....a fabulous fedora, the pictures don't do justice to the rich dark chocolate colour, and no moth holes or wear at the pinch points.
Score! as they say in the roundball game.
