Can Ivory soap be used for cleaning excess polish off of leather?I seem to remember reading an article saying that it can,but I want to be certain before using it.

You can strip shoe polish off shoes with rubbing alcohol and a rag.

I'm not sure about Ivory soap.

If I use alcohol,I assume I should use leather lotion afterwards to moisturize the leather?I would think the alcohol would dry it.

Always test in a small area by the heel first to see if it works. Some liquid polishes can be cleaned with Alcohol many paste waxes use naptha to crack the wax. Afterwords try a good polish as most of the paste waxes use sheep tallow this will also help the leather. Be careful of the type of rag you use,
(terry cloth can be abrasive) Dont rub too hard as you can rub thru the grain of the leather (it is still only skin, tanned but still skin).
