Hi all,

Guess what? my cousing just came to visit from London and he got me, as a gift, a Foldaway identical to the one I already own. I don't need two clone hats so I'm selling one. In both hats the size tag says UK 7 and US 7. I'm a 71/8 and it fits rather perfect. The color is "burma" which is a nice brownish/olive tone. Brim size: 21/2 ( no 21/4 as advertised on some sites)

Brand new, never worn for $70 bucks (retails for $189 fedorastore.com) including USPS shipping in hat box, or add $10 bucks and I'll ship UPS ground which I like better. I should mention that my cousing brought the hat without the red Christys tube. So this deal comes "tubeless". If you want to make me an offer, shoot and I'll cosider it.
here are some photos. (In the last picture I'm wearing my own hat, not the new one.)

Hey Aureliano,
Can you help me out a little more on the size? All my hats are 7 1/4 (58) but I've been losing weight and I've had to add foam weather stripping to all of them. Gotta admit that's something I hadn't thought about when I went on this diet. So I'm thinking I could start wearing a 7 1/8. That's your size but you say you can fit into this hat, which is a 7. Is it a "big" sized 7 or are you on the borderline between 7 and 7 1/8 or what? It's a nice looking hat and the price is good. So what do you think?

Hi rrog,
so this is what I know: the tag says uk 7 which is, if I'm correct, USA 71/8.
Now, the tag also says USA 7. Which is odd.
I'm a perfect 71/8 and the foldaway fits me ever, only ever so slightly loose and I like them sort of snug. In my hat (clone to the one I'm selling) I put a very thin stripe of felt under the cloth sweat (itself very thin as well) and now it fits perfectly. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply. I was just looking at its specs and was thinking about giving it a chance, as far as it being my size. And then I saw it has a 2 1/4" brim. I really don't look good in anything under 2 1/2". At least that's what my wife tells me! So I'll have to pass. But as I was looking at prices, I know it's a real deal at this price. Someone is going to be very pleased with this hat.

Good luck with it,
rrog

To avoid confusion, the web is wrong. All foldaways have a 2 1/2" brim (slightly narrower on the sides) unless specially ordered differently. I was in Hornet Hats in London and looked through a whole stack of them so I can state this with some certainty. A lot of websites make a mistake here.

As for sizing, a UK 7 is a US 7 1/8. This equates to a continental 57cm. Since the hat is made in the UK I can't see why it would have US sizing on it. My advice is just to ask for continental sizing as it doesn't have the difference which US and UK sizing has.

And if anyone's interested, the open crown height is 5" unless ordered otherwise. Just in case websites get this wrong too.

Where can I order one with a 2 5/8 or even a 2 3/4 inch brim? Is there a medium grey color offered as well?

Correct. You can ask for a different crown height, brim width and choose any of a large selection of colours at no extra price for any of their hats.
