Change to eBay's Vintage Listings

Hi Ladies -

I was lurking in the Vintie seller's board on the 'Bay and it's been discovered that eBay had changed the reproductions category. Apparently for some of the time periods (mostly 1900s and newer) under Vintage Clothing, the Repro section is now INSIDE the vintage clothing section. So, take a careful look to see if what you're buying is vintage and not repro (if that's what you want) when you're browsing vintage. Sellers are pretty unhappy about it... they think (and I agree) it came about because of all the auctions being reported in which new items were listed in the vintage category. It was gumming up the works. Now, real vintage sellers can't complain :(

I think it's pretty cool, actually- I make repros from time to time and I never felt they got the price they deserved because most people don't look for good repros in the repro categories.

If you're looking for an authentic vintage piece, just make sure it's not in the repro section of your era, and you should be ok...

Other than the fact that some sellers still SWEAR their 1980's items are 40's... but that's another story...

that's a real bugbear of mine:

(ebay header) "vintage 50s dress!"

(click on item) "vintage 80s does 50s dress"/"brand new! 50s style retro dress" (not even repro, just has a waist belt)

grrr!!!!

The trouble with the new category layout, is that if you search by era like me, you have to dig through repro stuff.
What I mean is, I don't usually use keywords, I usually check out the 1939-1946 category and just look at anything there because that's the era of stuff that I want to wear. That category will now include repro stuff, along with stuff that is already miscategorized and not to mention all the new China import stuff which doesn't belong there either.
I feel that Repro should be under it's own heading with an era breakdown from there, not under the parent vintage categories.
