Cavanagh and Imperial Question

Please forgive me if this is a silly question; I promise I'm not trying to waste space.

I may be in line to acquire a Cavanagh hat that's either NOS or at least in very, very good condition, size 7 1/4 or maybe 7 (can't recall at the moment), brim about 1 3/4 or 2", silk liner and (if my memory serves) a plastic cover over the top portion of the liner.

At the same time, I may also be able to acquire an Imperial brand fedora with a curled, bound brim in about 7 1/4 or 7, and also either NOS or very good condition. Brim is definitely 2 - 2/14", with (again, if memory serves) silk liner, no plastic.

I don't have dates for either of them, and unfortunately, I believe they are from estate sales with no further details as to previous owners or dates of purchase. I have been able to inspect both, and I'm certain of their quality. I will not be able to wear these myself, so...

My questions are:
1. What are these worth? I know you'll only estimate, but I need to have a ballpark to know whether or not I should invest to resell.
2. As long as their in near perfect to very good condition, would any of you be interested in purchasing? Or is this something better off in eBay land? I would have to put forward a modest amount of cash, thus I would hope to receive a modest return.

Thanks for any help!!!
(ps I don't have any pictures because I wasn't allowed to use my camera. Hey - I know, people these days, right?!)

Based on what you can show and tell us about the hats, I really doubt it would be worth your trouble to purchase and resell them. ;)

Cavanagh's don't get nearly the prices they should. I don't buy them to resell anymore (unless they're melon size), not worth the effort compared to some other brands.

Sounds like the Imperial might be a homburg. I have no luck at all with those.

If the hats fit and you can get them cheap, it could be worth a shot. If they don't fit, you might have to take a loss to get rid of them.

Usually, a size 7 will go for a lot less than a 7 1/4 of the same hat. A case where size really does matter.
