Can't Wait To Be 50

In my church, we have this Senior's group called the Oasis Group (ages: 50 and up). Vallet parking is just for them before they enter the sanctuary. They have a cozy little nook inside the church just built for them where they could fellowhip and have meals. Every Sunday, a specially prepared array of homemade delicacies are offered free for them as their breakfast buffet. Every now and then they would go and see places like Branson, some Amish counties, and foliage tours. Just a special wonderful treatment by the church! I told my wife, seven more years and I'll be there. She responded, You go right ahead!

It's 55 at our church, but I think it should be older. I'll be 53 in a few weeks, so I don't have long to go.

I can't wait till I'm 60+ so that I can get away with flirting with women while their boyfriend/husband is standing right next to them.
It's the only way I can explain my boss getting away with it at least.

Cheer up Twitch! Look at the brighter side! You are in your golden years! You are far wiser now than you were in your youth.

"With the ancient is wisdom; and in length of days understanding. With him is wisdom and strength, he hath counsel and understanding." (Job 12:12-13)

You've got your grandkids looking up to you. You're nearing retirement and what quality time awaits you as you spend those moments with your spouse as you travel around the world. The best is yet to come Twitch. And that very best is in your golden years! I know I'm looking forward to it.

My Grandfather went by Gill, and my son by Gilbey.

I on the other hand grew up in a small town and as was called "Oh that's Gretchen's little boy!"

Never have a teacher that is also a bridge partner with your mother. Life can get real long fast!

I appreciate the intention Gibley, I do. But for me I have had cancer diagnosed- and killed it twice in the past 3 years. And associated with it I had urinary tract surgery and will seemingly have plumbing problems in that area till I die. Due to that I can't work so I have no income but am too young to "retire." One of the drugs they gave me put large amounts of solid, muscular weight on so it is tiring to do the things I used to do and I have far less flexibility like weight lifters do. Ain't got no grandkids and probably won't in the foreseeable future in the situarions my kids are in.

The very positive thing is that I killed the cancer twice in 3 years but as for golden years, well, the only thing golden about them will be the urinary escapades I endure

Actually I wouldn't mind being 50 again since I'd have a few good years before all this stuff happened.

The simple truth is that our health deteriorates as we get older. You're not alone. At 42, I was diagnosed with Chiari Malformation of the brain resulting in a syrinx within my spinal cord, causing me to have numbness and tingling on both hands and feet with loss of sensations and paralytic episodes. I had undergone a total of 5 brain surgeries due to complications in the past 2 months. The Dr. finally had to put a VP shunt to regulate the drain of the spinal fluid pressure from my brain to my tummy to avoid further complications (a permanent spare part). It worked. However, irreversible nerve damage may already have occured since I'm only experiencing partial restoration to my sensations.

I know that life on earth is not perfect and a lot of things happen just because it does. Life is unfair. But for the meantime, we can be thankful for our blessings. There are more people that are a lot worse in their situations than we are now. Just thank God you have beaten this cancer twice. I am very thankful for my life ... that I didn't die on the operating table during my ordeal. Every day is a gift that I could experience life even in the least of things. Always have a grateful heart.

I have to say that once you have a life threatening medical "thingy" you really can't be scared by much and the prospect of dying on an airline flight or water vessel or traffic accident is insignificant.

It's the way we'd get after we'd be in-country about 6-8 weeks on a 13 month tour. You had to quit thinking about the real world and not count days. We just got this glorious glazed over peaceful look and didn't care about anything other than keeping you buddies' back safe.

One thing for sure is guys don't go to doctors for regular check ups do ya? Well an annual blood test caught my cancer. Every guy over 40 should have X-rays and a PSA blood test every year. Most cancers, hypertension and other ills have no symptoms! You don't feel anything till it's too late.

Guys, wake up and get a check up!!

I did and will do so far into the future. Before that, I just used the doctor when I was actually sick. [huh]
I am sure they are probably preventing me from living a short life where I can eat anything I want.
