Can you date this vintage tux/evening suit

Yesterday at my neighborhood vintage clothing store, I found what I think is a ‘30s vintage tuxedo/evening suit! Heavy-weight (wool?) flannel, double-breasted, wide lapels faced with (silk?) faille or grosgrain fabric. The buttons are covered with the same fabric. There is a grosgrain stripe on the double-pleated trousers. Here are some photos. The specks you see are lint stuck to the flannel. Easily lifted off with a sticky roller.

In my view this suit absolutely reeks with classic era nostalgia. It looks like something John Jacob Astor would have worn on that cold, fateful evening on the Titanic! If this would fit me, I’d have bought it in a flash, but it is a size 41; too small for me. Fantastic for the next FL Queen Mary party.

What do the Fedora Lounge experts think? Is this a 1930’s era, winter-weight evening suit?

There's the pics.

Tuxes are so hard. Very little variation through the years. was it button or zip fly?

Sorry about the problem with the pics. Apparently it resolved itself; I didn't do anything.

Darn! I didn't think to check the fly closure. What impressed me was the thickness and weight of the fabric. Obviously intended for cold drafty rooms without central heating.

Mid to late 1930s. The high placement of the jacket's front buttons dates it. A 1940s or '50s double-breasted tux would have lower-placed buttons.

.

Thanks Marc, That's what I thought. Are you sure you don't want it?
