Can It Be Let Out? How To Tell ::UPDATE:: What Do I Have?

Why do you ask?
I recently bought a blazer off eBay, and while the measurements provided by the seller sounded as if they'd work for me, they were just a hair shy in the shoulder and sleeve length. [The seller was entirely accurate in their listing, it was my assessment of my measurements that came out as off.]

That being said, how do I, a tailoring idiot, know if a jacket can be let out? I REALLY want to be able to keep and wear this jacket.

Thanks in advance for any advice on the subject.

Randy

P.S If it'd be helpful, I can take some pics of said jacket.

From what I have seen, if it is just a little bit, it may be possible to do and not alter the lines. The thing is it takes a good tailor to make the appraisal as to if it will work. I don't think they charge you to ask.

Thanks, John. It's a very minimal amount of change needed. I didn't know if it were possible to tell just by an untrained inspection when told what to look for.

I had dropped some things off at the cleaner yesterday and they suggested a tailor to take the jacket to... I would have done so if it hadn't been about to pour the rain, I was wanting to beat it home.

A little Info, please!

Here's the jacket I'm referring to. It was one of those "had to have it!!" things I ran across on eBay. I was worried about the color being too used car salesman, but it's really much more muted than even my photos show. This jacket is next to flawless, I really can't find any issues, it seems to have hardly been worn.

I was wondering if anyone had any clue as to the age of the garment? The seller said 1950's, but I'm curious if that's accurate.
