C-3 Vest: where early models redskin?

I was reading that the C-3 vest was first designed in 1936 which to my knowledge was before the mass seal brown spray dye. does this mean that the early vests were "redskin"? I have never seen one, was just curious if they existed originally in the russet brown. Thanks
