In the following fit images I'm wearing a size 38 Buzz Rickson William Gibson L-2B Light Flying Jacket, which I find is generous in cut ,thus enabling me to go down a size vs. the heavier MA-1 jacket. The MA-1 and L-2B are often confused as the same jacket due to the similarities in design they share, but they are indeed different designs with different features and weights intended for different temperature ranges.
The L-2B is deliciously light weight, yet the nylon-and-wool lining allows it to be comfortably worn between 42 degrees F. and 68 degrees F., making this an ideal jacket for spring and fall. I'll never forget how, as an A-2 jacket diehard, I quickly fell in love with an "L" jacket the first time I wore it on a cool spring day that turned into a cooler evening after being out and about. The blended lining fabric in these jackets simply provides what the A-2 cannot. My build is as follows: chest 40", 5' 9" tall, waist 30", shirt sleeve 33", weight 147 lbs., lean, athletic build.
The lining in this William Gibson edition is USAF blue as found in the L-2A jacket, which is quite attractive. This L-2B is a one-time production under the William Gibson label and we are now down to the last of these jackets, so get your jacket for spring while stocks last (size 40 is now sold out).
Of course, more details can be found on our website, including product measures, detailed photos, and sizing tips:
