Buying some FQHH leather from LW

Hello everybody!
This is one of my first posts here. First I would like to thank this community for all this great shared information. I am also interested in vintage and I think it's fantastic to find this gathered in one place.
I started with repro denim and lately I turned my attention to repro leather jackets. I like thick heavy leather (horsehide, cowhide) and I am not too much into distressing leather. I'm rather babying them by using casually, keeping them away from rain, excessive heat, petroleum products, unnecessary wear(not wearing them while driving the car, doing work).

So far my funds did not allow for high-end stuff. Recently I managed to save a bit and ordered a Aero B-3 (seal-brown, russet trim) that I should be getting in about 2 months (have a bit mixed-feelings about, as I documented more after and maybe for a fraction more could have got an armour-like LW B-3 or Eastman B-3).

Let's get to the subject. Since I started getting into leather jackets, I found in my country a leather tailor that does an good enough quality job and I got two jackets custom-made so far (one after CHIPS and one based on Grizzly Palomino). First one of thick cow-hide (is about 2.5 kg) and second is 4 kg armour-like(entire from thick cowhide and with the horse hair-on-hide panels over). I could post pictures if you would like. Reasons for choosing the tailoring solution are fit(I am doing weightlifting so have a hard-time finding a nice-fitted one) and a price that I can afford.

Now I am thinking of sourcing some heavy 4-4,5 ounces FQHH and I found the LostWorlds offer but the minimum quantity is a bit high 45sqm for my needs. A forth of it would be just fine. Anyone from here interested in grouping to make an order together?
If you have other suggestions, questions, shoot them, I'm happy to communicate.

Welcome!
Would love to see your jackets! As for buying leather, I might be interested in a small % of it. How much is it?
I have some projects as does my son. Might want some if the price is right.
As to your Aero - let me tell you, my son's Aero B3 in seal is tank-like. So don't fret. If you don't like it, you'll find a buyer quickly.

Here you go mihai
http://www.aacrack.co.uk/default.asp?contentID=585

They also do chromexcel at£4.80 + vat per sq foot, minimum 1 front quarter, which is about 16sq feet...they are helpfull as well as they will ask roughly the footage you need for your project and ask for the biggest panel size to make sure that you get the right sized hide.

http://www.ilceaspa.it/index_eng.html dont know anything about this lot other than that they do horsehide.

Regards Tony

Butte, thanks for the welcome. I was referring to this http://www.lostworldsinc.com/Automobile_Car_Home_Horsehide_Leather.htm . Basically minimum is 45 sqf (4.18 sqm = 2 jackets?) minimum order at 12 usd/sqf. Sorry for the mistake I thought it was 45 sqm :) . 45 sqf is more manageable. It's about the same price proposed by my tailor for some italian horsedide (black antracite with some slight shiny finish) of almost 1.5 - 2 mm thickness. Though shipping from USA to Europe(approx 150 usd for EMS) and taxes could pose a problem.
Pictures will come in 20 minutes, I'll open a separate thread.

Tony, thanks a lot for the useful links. Is it possible to order based on thickness (lets say to ask for 4oz + FQHH)?

Do you have some idea about approximate correlation weight - thickness for FQHH?

Thanks a lot!

A and A crack had no8 brown chromexcel in about a month ago when I spoke to them....the weight was 4-4.5 oz about1.4-1.5mm it's the stuff aero use and as main stockists they should be able to get anything that horween make....and no import duty as long as you are on EU.

Regards Tony

I have black FQHH from Horween - got it from Nick Horween to have JC make a jacket for me (back in the day when JC was a little more "accomodating"). From what I understand it is enough to make at least one jacket.
