Buying a Lemon

I was driving by a used car lot last night and saw a car that looked pretty good. So I stopped and since it was late at night the place was closed. So I looked around. The car I liked had a disclaimer on the window; "California Lemon Law Buyback". Ding, off my list of contenders. So I have to ask; "what kind of fool would knowingly buy a "Lemon Law Buyback". There was a list of things that were "corrected" such as replacing the master cylinder. I thought these Lemons either were stripped for replacement parts for body shops or sent to Third World Countries?

A lot of people fall in love at first sight with cars, so they don't bother to read all that boring stuff. They should just paint all those lemons bright yellow. :p

I wouldn't, though I did buy a couple of Jag's in the 70'-80's.

It really makes you wonder about the caliber of the dealership selling such products. I know from my past experiences at the service department I wouldn't be buying another car from them. I just happened to be driving by, saw what I thought was good looking and stopped.

Eh, I'm stuck paying off 3 grand for a car that lasted 4 months. I've got about a year to go, if I don't get taken to court first.

All it's done for me is a) I'm never buying a used car again unless I get a warranty b) I'm never buying from an individual again and c) I'm never going to go to a mechanic that isn't my brother (since I had the car checked out and the shoddy work he passed and said the car was good  )

I bought a '93 Chevrolet Lumina brand new with 25 miles and from 34,000 miles on it broke down every 2-3 months. I had an extended warranty, that was about $900 but I had over $3000 worth of claims on the piece of junk.

Well Lincsong thank California and its uber-strict consumer laws for the fact that it is diclosed. Think of how many cars were pulled out of the water in the Katrina aftermath that will be re-titled in different states and sold as nice used cars.

When I came back to Cali from Florida I worked for a Chevrolet dealership up here. The used car manager was a pirate. He'd wholesale out the trade ins and go out to Kansas City and buy cars at the auction over there. What pieces of crap he brought back here. You know the back/middle seats of a Tahoe/Suburban have the tie down bolts exposed, well they were rusted. How the hell do bolts get rusted inside the vehicle???? FLOOD!!!! and the brake drums were so rusted you could break the rust off with a pen knife. I got so disgusted I got out of the car business.:rage: :rage:
