Considering that you can find other jackets that appear identical (or nearly so) for a fraction of the price, I'd say the Lost Worlds jacket isn't worth it. Come on over to the adventure gear thread and search for 'bush jacket' or 'safari jacket' and you'll come up with a few good alternatives.

I like the look of it. It does, however, seem a little pricey. If it's durable, and you use it for it's designed purpose, I think it's a fair price. However, if you're not planning on going after any leopards, then I think the price is a deal breaker for the average guy.

Beretta used to offer a very nice looking jacket called the Kalahari Safari jacket, looked very nice and it's on my list to pick one up if they're still available.

Might be worth a thought.

No matter how often, I click on this thread, every time I see the title in the listings, this is what I think of when I read "Bush Jacket":

Honestly, I think just about everything Lost Worlds produces is grossly overpriced. Ifeel the same about a lot of the Filson products, too, inclduing their bush jacket at $197.

If I were looking for a good looking bush jacket and didn't mind dropping a little cash, I'd probably go with the Orvis Skeleton Coast jacket. It's a solid, functional jacket, though at $129 (when it was available) I'd probably think twice before I'd drag it through any really rough terrain. I've had an alternate version of the Orvis jacket for years, and it is tough as nails, virtually wrinkle-proof, and has all the classic styling. There are a number available in that general price range, though, including the jacket offered by Kevin's, Griffin & Howe, Travelsmith, the afore-mentioned Beretta, TAG Safari, and many others. I'd put the TAG Safari jacket up against the Lost Worlds jacket, if for no other reason you'd get 3 jackets for the price of one! TAG offers several models, including one with the shooting patch.

For pure function I love my $50 Cabela's jacket, which I will beat the heck out of because I know I can easily replace it. Some don't like the drawstring waist, but for ease of use I prefer it to a belted design. It also blends better into daily wear without the belt.
