This is out on DVD now. It allegedly is concerned with the treatment of Indians around the time of the Wounded Knee S.D. massacre. While it runs well over 2 hours it is hardly ghost of the book by Dee Brown.

This is one time that the book was resoundlingly better. The book's scope begins far earlier and fleshes out the major chiefs of the tribes to a great degree. In the movie they seem only as tokens with famous names and are seen in only the final, worse situation of capture and confinement and not in their glorious times before.

If you'd thought of renting this do yourself a huge favor and seek out the book instead.

I agree, I read the book years ago, left profound effect, as for the movie I was expecting better, doesn't do enough credit to Dee Brown's book.

The book is a profound experience indeed. It made me ashamed.

The Trail of Tears is plenty of reason to get Andrew Jackson the heck off the $20 bill!

My mother, who was quite a history buff, never mentioned Andrew Jackson's name without saying "That wicked man."
