I posted this in the Memphis photos thread but thought it was worthy of posting here also. We visited Major Moore's shop "Buckaroo Hatters" the next morning after the Memphis meet. It was sooo cool seeing his stuff and learning some of the process. I think we could have done the meet there and fired up a grill and talked hats the whole weekend!:D lol lol There were some incredible hats there! He can do westerns or fedoras. If you are anywhere near Memphis give him a ring, it is well worth the trip to see his shop and get some firsthand details from him!
The hat 2nd from the right on top is a butternut color and is so nice when you see it in person! It would be great on a fedora with a bound brim! As is the brown with the whip stitch, which makes me wonder something, I will have to PM him! ;)

I have to say though you cannot tell by my pics these are not the super thick type hats you find in a cheap western store. The fedoras and his westerns are super smooth and soft felts, and it was incredible to be able to see them and feel all the different types!

The Major doing some steaming on either Duck's or Warbird's hat I believe. And the hat on the shelf is RBH's which is really nice looking!

Two satisfied Buckaroo hatters customers! They will be getting customs for Christmas also!

Indycop, that body you brought to me on Sat, that at one time that had been a hat, has been blocked, sanded some more, new sweat band sewn in, shaped and a very nice ribbon put on it, I had it done by 9 last night, it looks good, wish we would have taken a photo of that wrinkled up, not sweatband hat , before I hat started.

Also, wait till you see the photos of the hat you, your girls and Duck helped me sand , it is a nice hat, put a very old vintage wide ribbon on it, I am glad ya'll helped me make this hat.

Holy moly! You were finished before I was even out of Alabama! Dee told me you asked how old it was cos of how bad off it was. I had taken the liner and sweat out of it intending to redo it. It ended up just rubbing me wrong and spent a while in the bed of my truck destined for the trash! So if you turned it into a hat then it will be amazing!

I can not get my camera to take a clear photo that ya'll seem to have luck doing mine all look out of focus and just don't do the object right. Those photos Indy Cop took inside the shop and off the hats look great, mine look like , you know what. It is a 7 mega pixel camera, but darn if I can get a good photo from it.

Duck that hat with that wide grey ribbon, the one that I showed you that had those 4 pin stripe black lines in the width of it, set that hat off, matter fact I put on a pair of jeans a grey silk t-shirt, balck sport coat and the hat, man, talk about looking sharp, sort of reminded me about that ole ZZ Top song. Then I changed to a black silk t-shirt and grey sport coat, my wife said , "looking good, ole man"

Funny, "Buy a hat get a free truck", if the big three keep droping in sales they may call on hatters to help out like your saying said, "Buy a hat, get free truck" never can tell what add companies will do.

Glad ya'll liked them, just thought they would add a little something to say thanks.

This is the completed hat That Duck and me and my daughter helped sand on. I think after majormoore got us out of the way he was able to get down to work and whip this beauty out!
First the hat blank,

And the finished product!

It was amazing the difference in the felt after sanding!

He will have to give the specifics on it, but I remember looking at the vintage ribbon on it!
