The famous Red Beret. No military or date stamps, but everything about it shouts out 'vintage'. Not issue, a private purchase, so possibly an officers? Anyway, a very well made piece of kit. Made in England.
I bought it at a militaria fair in Winchester about 1996, no provenance unfortunately. I wore it in one of the photoshoots for Brayley and Ingrams excellent World War Two Tommy book. Just thinning out the collection. I love it to bits, it's such an evocative item. But time marches on and not something I can see me needing to wear again. I'd like to see it go to a new home now.
On ebay, ends on Sunday. No bids yet so you could get a bargain!
Thanks for looking!
