Brit mags are better

US mags aren't very informative to my eye. Italian and Spanish versions of my favorites all have too many wild fashion looks and stray away from tailoring and genuine style (and are written in mangled letter combinations that I can't read).

I've always been partial to GQUK. It's the content. real tailoring and a much more worldly look at style.

Anyone yet getting the Rake?

None of them attract me - rather too focussed on contemporary styles that do not interest me. Beyond that, they are also rather laughable in their tendency to feature features on items of clothing that "every man should own" where the average suit pictured is £2,000, or jeans at £600. There are several guitar magazines I stopped buying years ago as a result of their fixation with the high end, same as these magazines: I have no interest whatever in reading monthly about either clothing or instruments that I simply will never be able to afford. Very occasionally I will pick up Esquire if there is an article that particular attracts me - it has to be very good, though, or I have to be desperate at an airport, to spend the price of a decent paperback novel on a magazine that will last maybe an hour. GQ I absolutely refuse to touch on point of principle given their choice of "politician of the year" last year, but that leans into politics and is not appropriate for discussion here. In any case, a publication which hails that Beckham fellow any form of style icon is worthy of nothing but withering contempt.
