Brims and Stingy Brims

At what point does a brim become considered a "stingy" brim? I had thought that a stingy brim was a brim that was under two inches but I've seen two-inch brims referred to as stingy as well.

Just curious.

Cheers,
Tom

I always assumed a stingy brim as less than a 2".
Similar to the discussion on what is a gorge, I think the particulars are either lost to most folks and the true definition is changed or adapted to suit the discussion.

2 Inches would be my cut-off . . .

Although I prefer wider brims, a stingy brim looks good on some folks.
But if it is over 2 inches, I do nto think you can call it a stingy brim . . . unless it is a size 8, and you are roughly the size of a professional wrestler. In that case, 2 inches might look stingy:)

I have read that it is less than 2 inches. I even consider 2 inches a stingy brim, at least on me. I prefer 2 1/2" up to 3. Above three and it is closer to a cowboy hat!

However, because the stingy brim style is popular right now with the young hipsters, I have seen some hat seller sites refer to a 2-inch brim as a "wide" brim. !??!

I think 2" and less is a stingy brim

Strictly speaking for us peanut head guys (You know us guys that look like YOSEMITE SAM in a 2" and longer brim) stingys are abetter looking hat;)

then again, slightly over 2 can still look stingy depending on the dimensions of the hat. It's kind of subjective.

Right on rockyJ.

I have the same problem, but think of Jim Carry in The Mask when he's wearing the zoot suit.

Most of my hats are right at the 2" mark on the brim to avoid this look.
