Breeze-Kool Fabric

Anyone heard of this fabric? Anyone know who made it? I just picked up a leisure suit - shirt and slacks - that i'm pretty sure is 1930s, going by the labels. The union label is of a type i haven't seen before and doesn't yield a date. It is an American suit. There is an image in the February 1939 issue of Esquire of a chap wearing an outfit of very similar design on a boat. The only references to the fabric i can find online are from late 40s and early 50s newspapers from the UK and the US, and they are for Breeze Cool, not Kool.

So: those of you who have old Esquires, Apparel Arts etc. copies, please look through the resort wear sections and see if there's any reference to this stuff: Breeze-Kool.

Here's it is. I have it in hand, but have not laundered or photographed it yet. It is Sanforized cotton. $30 from eBay; ain't too shabby.

While this look has been popular among older folks in the African American and Hispanic (especially in the Caribbean) communities for decades it has recently been reintroduced to a younger demographic by Sean John, Phat Farm and the likes.

This is my observation too. In the warm weather months I see men wearing leisure outfits like this. The patterns have been updated but the idea is the same.
